Former "McDreamy" of "Grey's Anatomy" Patrick Dempsey and his estranged wife Jillian Fink recently bid adieu to their former home. In a report from Variety.com, the Frank Gehry designed home located in Malibu was bought by no other than Texas billionaire Sid Bass.
The house was purchased by the secretive billionaire from Fort Worth for $15 million, when the listed price was at $14.5 million. The home is spread over 3.23 acres located on the popular Zuma Beach. Originally designed for abstract artist Ron Davis, the trapezoid shaped home has a corrugated metal main residence with a floor area of 5,547 square feet. The home has volumes of living and entertainment spaces, built alongside the three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.
Together with the home is an Airstream trailer for guests or an instant getaway home for the owners. The other amenities of the house include an al fresco kitchen perfect for barbecues and with an adjoining pizza oven, a pergola designed dining area, a spa and swimming pool combo with an outdoor shower. One of the newer features is the rock climbing wall. There are also off the wall inclusions such as a chicken coop, organic gardens as well as equestrian facilities. There are other facilities that make the property well worth the cost.
Sid Richardson Bass purchased the home through a holdings firm based out of Forth Worth, Texas. The septuagenarian made his fortune with the sale of his family's shareholdings in the Walt Disney Company, according to a report from therichest.com. He also is in the oil business with Bass Operating. While he amasses his riches, according to a report from forbes.com, he is into painting as a hobby and avoiding all social events where he is required to wear a tuxedo. He is estimated to be worth $1.66 billion.
