The popular reality show "Survivor" will be returning for Season 31, and there are a lot of big twists for the upcoming season. Aside from allowing fans to vote for the cast of "Survivor: Cambodia-Second Chance," Entertainment Weekly revealed that a big twist will involve the use of the immunity idols.
According to the report, each of the immunity idols in the upcoming season will look different. It was reported that this was done to be able to confuse the contestants as to what idol is genuine and what is fake. Host Jeff Probst explained in an interview that some of the idols may look fancy and some may just look ugly to be able to convince someone that it may be a fake one.
Aside from that, according to Hollywood Life, the idols will also be placed on different locations. For the very first time in the show, it was reported that the immunity idols will be hidden in the middle of the challenges. Probst explained that it was something that they have been thinking of doing for years.
Usually on the first day on the island, the contestants need to build their shelters, and as they try to find materials for it, Probst said that they may find the idol in a tree or under a trunk. Contestants will be tested if they will be daring enough to grab it.
Probst further explained that they will have clues as to where the idols will be located, and the contestants who will figure it out are in a position of whether to grab the idol in the middle of the challenge and in front of his or her tribe. He expressed his excitement with this new twist as he is hoping to see if contestants who choose to take the idol and leave their tribe will get away with it.
Season 31 of "Survivor: Cambodia - Second Chance: will premiere on CBS on September 23.
