Warning: Spoilers will be revealed from the premiere episode aired last Sunday.
Aired last Sun. Aug. 23 was the first episode of "Fear the Walking Dead" titled "Pilot," and from that episode we got some subtle details from TV Line regarding the characters of the series. Nick (Frank Dillane) opens the episode being hit by a car when he was trying hard to run away from something he sees in the old drug den. Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), Nick's mother is a high school guidance counselor who tries hard in protecting her drug-abused son. Aside from Nick, Madison also has a high school daughter named Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) who is an achiever in school but has revulsion over her family. Another character, Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) is an English high school professor currently a fiancé of Madison. As depicted in the story, Travis has a complicated relationship with his son from a former wife.
Over the sequence of events, Nick was recovering in the hospital from being hit by the car. He eventually runs away from the hospital and meets up with Calvin who was the drug dealer. Calvin is reproaching Nick if he spills him to Madison being the drug dealer. While on the car, Nick sees the gun that Calvin is carrying and gearing to protect his life, accidentally shoots Calvin.
Feeling remorse, he meets up with Travis who brings along Madison. The three decided to go back to where the shooting happened only to find that Calvin wasn't on the spot he was shot. When they are heading to leave the area, they noticed that there was someone at back of the car. Travis and Madison approached the bloodied Calvin. Calvin who was looking death-bound gory (zombie) is heading towards them and trying to bite Travis' arm. Nick geared up his vehicle and slams Calvin. The three closely looked at the run-over oddly-horrific looking Calvin lying on the ground and glaring at them. Madison questioning Travis, what is happening and the latter answers, he has no idea.
EW recently interviewed Kim Dickens and asked her about her character in "Fear The Walking Dead" being the real reason Calvin was killed. Dickens said that the event Calvin being killed was the start of the succeeding "chain of events" that will be unveiled in the upcoming episodes of the story.
