Selena Gomez wore a chastity ring when she was 13 to symbolize she would never do anything "wrong" before marriage. However, in a recent interview, the "Good For You" singer revealed that her values have changed, but she claimed that she did not do anything bad by falling in love.
Gomez, 23, wore a chastity ring when she dated Nick Jonas, 22. Jonas also wore the same band. Gomez recently had an interview with The Sunday Times and revealed what happened with her purity ring. When asked if she's not embarrassed about wearing a ring, the singer/songwriter revealed that she's not.
"I'm not embarrassed to say that," Selena told the tabloid. "I'm also not embarrassed to say that the ring has come off. I got it when I was 13 and I respect so much what it represented, but it isn't for everyone."
Selena's chastity ring given by her dad was blessed in the church. She boasted that she was even made as an example to other girls her age by his father. The 23-year-old admitted, however, that she took off the ring when she started dating Justin Bieber, according to Hollywood Life.
"I didn't think I was doing anything bad by falling in love," Selena admitted. "There's such an emphasis on people being the perfect thing and then destroying them because it's good press. Also throw in the fact that you are a teenager - it makes it more difficult."
She revealed she never regret dating the "Baby" hitmaker for three years. She also said that she feels people find it hard to separate her from her former boyfriend Justin, E! News reports. However, Selena, who's single right now, remains positive about her next relationship.
Before ending her interview, the "Come & Get It" crooner said that her next relationship will be something dear to her. She also noted that there is no way that she will ever hide her life.
