The two-time MVP, Steve Nash, would be inducted into Phoenix Suns' Ring of Honor on October 30.
From a press release posted via by cbssports, Nash was considered by Phoenix Suns as the team's heart and soul during an era of Suns basketball that revolutionized the NBA. It was during Nash's stay with the team that the best record of the franchise in history was marked on 2004-2005 season.
Nash, who was a 15th overall pick in the first round of the NBA draft back in 1996, played for the Valley in a total of 10 seasons. However on the latter part of his career, Nash made a move that upset some of the Phoenix's fans, as he transferred into the Lakers team in 2012. Such major career decision of Nash made him part of the ill-fated dream team construction which includes, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and eventually Dwight Howard. It was during that said transfer that Nash fell apart physically due to a leg injury which later on aggravated his back condition.
However, despite the said issue over the team transfer, Suns' fans and the team itself still considered Nash as part of the family as they would induct him as the fourteenth member of the Suns Ring of Honor. The soccer enthusiast turned NBA star would then be joining the likes of Tom Chambers, Jerry Colangelo, Walter Davis, Cotton Fitzsimmons, Connie Hawkins, Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, John MacLeod, Joe Proski, Dick Van Arsdale, Paul Westphal and the others. This latest award of Nash after his retirement from the NBA serves as a testament to what he said following his NBA draft.
"I DON'T LOOK LIKE I'M GOING TO BE A TREMENDOUS BASKETBALL PLAYER ON APPEARANCE. I PROBABLY WOULD'VE BOOED MYSELF TOO, BUT I'M GOING TO BE A REALLY GOOD PLAYER AND I'M GOING TO HELP THE TEAM A LOT. I HAVE A LOT OF FAITH IN MYSELF AND HOPEFULLY THEY'LL ENJOY WATCHING ME PLAY. THEY WANT TO WIN AND I WOULDN'T WANT FANS WHO JUST SAT BACK AND DIDN'T CARE, SO I'M EXCITED TO BE IN A PASSIONATE CITY." - Steve Nash, NBA
