3D-Printed Villas that can be Assembled in 3 Hours Launched by a Chinese Company

Constructing homes need not take that long anymore, thanks to the 3D-printed homes. Zhuoda Group of Xi'an in Central China developed this revolutionary technology and showcased it to an audience last July 17. The new technology can impressively put up a two-storey villa in just three hours. The sample villa comprises only of six modules that were produced in a factory before the actual demonstration, and which needed only a few workers and a crane to be assembled.

The "instant villas" that will be created from this technology offers the following benefits:

1.       They are eco-friendly as they contain no radon, ammonia, formaldehyde or other harmful compounds. Moreover they cause no pollution, usually caused by construction sites, as the parts have already been pre-assembled in factories before they are brought to the actual site.

2.       They cost less, about 3,500 Yuan or $564 for every square meter, definitely lower than the prevailing industry standard.

3.       They are made of more durable, but a lot cheaper, materials.

4.       They are expected to last at least 150 years.

5.       They can withstand earthquakes of high magnitude.

6.       They are fireproof and waterproof.

An Yongliang, one of Zhuoda Group's developing engineers, added that their method has been able to significantly reduce the common time frame in constructing villas, from six months to only ten days, which already covers the production to the installation.

During the actual installation of the sample villa, the workers stacked the modules like building blocks starting with the living room, then the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom on the first floor, followed by the terrace, bedroom and utility rooms on the second floor, all in just three hours.

Zhuoda Group is applying for a patent of the technology which will soon be available to a large number of clients. Customization of materials is likewise on its way, such as the modification of materials for granite, marble or jade- like textures, as well as other decorative textures.
