Celine Dion on Hubby's Fight with Cancer: "He Wants to Die in My Arms"

Celine Dion will be back performing in Las Vegas this month and while fans rejoice at the prospect of hearing the songbird belt out her hits again, it will be a bittersweet return for the 47-year-old performer. As reported by usmagazine.com, "My Heart Will Go On" hit maker's comeback will be costing her time away from husband Rene Angelil who has been fighting against throat cancer for the past years. Celine shared that her husband wishes "to die in her arms." She said she did not want to accept the offer at first but Rene convinced her to take the gig.

Celine shared her thoughts about her upcoming series of shows in Caesars Palace, as per the usmagazine.com post. "That first show, it will be fragile," she said of her August 27 debut at the Sin City. "There will be moments. Of emptiness, laughter, awkwardness, tearing up. But that's the point of coming back -- otherwise, I would just release an album."

In an interview with USA Today, as reported by nzherald.co.nz, Celine said: "I didn't want to be here at first, I don't need it. Don't get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities. But Rene really gave me a gift." She also mentioned that her husband was not used to being away from her. "Don't forget, he's been the leader of the band all my life," she said. The Canadian singer is trying to be strong amidst her family's battle, both for herself and her husband, and that's why she's performing on stage again.

Celine and Rene got married in 1994 and had three children. She took a break from her work in August last year to focus on taking care of her husband who, she later revealed, needs to be fed through a tube.
