Goldman Sachs Ex-Partner Buys Co-op for $19.5M

Former partner at Goldman Sachs and investor Jonathan Sobel has recently bought a home inside a white grove co-op on Park Avenue.

The New York Times reported that the home is a two-unit, a combination of apartments #4 and #5C. The Rosarion Candela designed house first hit the market in 2008 for $35 million, $26 million in 2009, and $23 million in 2011, but Sobel paid $19.5 million for the estate.

The house at 740 Park Avenue measures at 6,700 square feet and was listed by Meredyth Smith and Serena Boardman at Sotheby's International Realty.

Other features of the estate include four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a private elevator landing, a grand staircase and a walnut-paneled library, according to the Times.

There is also a baronial living room, a fireplace, a renovated white-clad kitchen on the upper level.

The residence has 15 rooms all together.

The Times also reported that this was the most expensive sale of last week, according to city records.
