It's still a a couple of months before Halloween but some people are already anticipating the fun that the holiday brings. Also, a Halloween costume is currently considered as the most controversial for the year 2015.
Halloween costume retailers are apparently offer a "Call Me Caitlyn" costume which was the former athlete's lingerie on a Vanity Cover earlier this year.
Naturally, the "Call Me Caitlyn" costume sparks anger among social media users and Jenner's supporters saying that the costume was "transphobic" and "disgusting."
According to nbcnews.com, Spirit Halloween, the retailer offering the costume, said they don't intend to bring disrespect to Caitlyn Jenner. They also added "At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes. We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that." Aside from Caitlyn costume, the retailer also sells Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, KISS band members and Marilyn Monroe.
The transgender community is still angry despite of the company's official statement. Most of them took their frustration to Twitter. A petition was also launched for Spirit Halloween to stop offering the "Call Me Caitlyn" costume. Addison Vincent, creator of change.org petition, said "Do not turn Caitlyn (sic) Jenner into a costume. Your profit will only lead to greater transphobia and marginalization of an already at-risk community."
In a report by mirror.co.uk, the "Call Me Caitlyn" costume also has a variety of Olympic- style with a red sleeveless top and blue shorts. The costume is being sold for $74.99.
Several Twitter users expressed their anger through the social media one said "The fact so many straight men want to dress up as Caitlyn Jenner for Halloween is beyond me I am disgusted." And there's one who might get into trouble and said "If I see anyone in a "Caitlyn Jenner costume" this Halloween.. My momma better hold me back.."
