Real Madrid's ace has just kicked a new goal in America - in the world of real estate.
Cristiano Ronaldo, ranked by Forbes as the world's highest-paid football player and athlete for that matter, recently bought an $18.5 million loft at Trump Tower at 56th Street, 5th Avenue, New York. The place was reportedly an inspiration to the setting of the controversial erotic romance novel, 'Fifty Shades of Grey' as its author, E.L. James, patterned the notorious pad owned by the lead character, Christian Grey, to the luxurious surrounding of this apartment.
The 2,509-square-foot home was bought through Warburg Realty. Its interior was created by world-renowned designer Juan Pablo Molyneux. It was originally owned by Alessandro Proto, an Italian real-estate tycoon and partner of Presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Built in 1983, the apartment consists of three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The bathrooms are covered with marble fit for a king, while arched ceilings, wood panelling, and black and white limestone floors adorn its interiors.
Surrounding Rolando's new home are the spectacular panoramic views of Central Park going to the north, Hudson River on the west, plus breath-taking views of Manhattan's famous landmarks such as the Freedom Tower, the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building on the south.
The soccer superstar will also enjoy access to the building's shops, bar and restaurant, a large fitness center, and the in-house valet services.
Pets are likewise allowed in the tower and these, together with luxury cars, have been known to be a big part of Ronaldo's life.
The purchase came after the 30-year-old football icon reportedly earned an estimated $79 million in 2014. Ronaldo's purchase of this property has sparked up earlier speculations that he plans to join America's Major League Soccer once his contract with Real Madrid ends in 2018.
