'The Legend of Zelda' Wii U News & Rumors: Release Date To Be Revealed After 'Tri-Force' Heroes Rolls Out; Game to Feature Portal Gun?

A new report has surfaced this week saying that Nintendo will certainly release "The Legend of Zelda" on Wii U. However, it was noted that the company has yet to issue an official statement about its release date. The company has announced the game as early as June during the E3 2014 event. However, last month, Nintendo's 2015 Q2 financial showed that the game was put on hold, suggesting an early 2016 or late 2017 release date for the game, a report from Master Herald said on Tuesday.

"Nintendo announced the action-adventure video game 'The Legend of Zelda' on Wii U as early as June last year during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2014. Back then, the consensus among gamers was that the Japanese gaming company would roll out the game this year. Unfortunately, more than one year, after the game was officially announced, 'The Legend of Zelda' on Wii U has yet to be released and it is unlikely to happen within the year too," the report noted.

Master Herald claims that the game will be better if it features Valve's portal gun. It, however, stressed that Nintendo will not likely come up with it, though it's a good idea for the company to consider regarding improvements for the game.

Forbes reports that the game's delay has been a huge cause for concern and that fans actually "reaked out after the company listed "The Legend of Zelda" Wii U with a to-be-determined (TBD) release. "'The Legend of Zelda'" seems to be a in constant state of flux in its current form, and just because it's TBD five months before 2016 even arrives, does not mean it will never eventually have a firm 2016 date attached to it," the report said.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has announced that it will release "The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes" on 3DS on October 23. The game's retail price is pegged at $39.99 and gamers can enjoy the game with other players through a multiplayer mode.

Though "The Legend of Zelda" on Wii U has been a disappointment for some fans, the company has other games to be released this year such as "Splatoon," "Mario Maker," "Star Fox," "Xenoblade Chronicles X," Yoshi's "Woolly World" and more.
