The E train got a new passenger on Wednesday, and it's was no ordinary Joe.
Actress Katie Holmes surprised many New Yorkers when she took a ride on the uptown-bound E train at 23rd street, according to the Daily News.
"You could sense that people knew. People were whispering," Todd Schoenberger, told the Daily News.
"Had she stayed on probably one or two extra stops, the whole train would have known."
Although the ex-wife of actor Tom Cruise didn't stay on the train for long, it definitely caught the attention of many passengers who recognized her, despite the clothes she had on.
The 33-year-old actress had on big sunglasses and a chunky knot sweater, played with her phone the entire ride and quickly got off at 34th Street.
Schoenberger said although her ride wasn't long, it was enough time for him to get some words across to the actress.
"I said, 'oh hi' because I thought I knew her, but then I realized I did know her, just not personally."
But Holmes is certainly not the only star to make use of the underground transportation system in New York City. Jay-Z was reportedly seen traveling on the R train to his final concert at the Barclays Center, Saturday.
