Metal Gear Solid 5's Official Trailer Released, Features the Phantom Pain: Leaves Many Wondering if it will Really be Hideo Kojima’s Last for Konami

The designer of the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima, has revealed the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, making it the final for the succession of his masterpiece.

Many brand the trailer as nostalgic as the first half of this trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5 looks back on highlights of earlier entries in the franchise. Considering that this serves as Hideo Kojima's concluding work for the sequence he created, this is pretty understandable.

The footage ends with a look at the upcoming Phantom Pain which is slated for its worldwide launch on the 1st day of September.

It is almost definite that Phantom Pain will be the last for the Metal Gear Solid title to have any involvement with its maker Hideo Kojima.

With its official launch just a few days away, critics have come up with their own verdict on Metal Gear Solid 5, with known gaming sites giving their opinion on it.

"Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain doesn't just respect my intelligence as a player, it expects it of me, putting it in [a] league that few others occupy," was how the IGN review described the game and even called it "a gameplay marvel."

"The Phantom Pain may be a contender for one of the best action games ever made, but is undoubtedly the best Metal Gear game there is," said GameSpot.

"Big Boss' supposedly final outing puts players in the middle of the most ambitious entry in the series yet, and it delivers on almost everything it promises. If this is Hideo Kojima's final game, then he is stepping out at the top floor of the industry," stated the review by EGM Now.

Just last month, players uncovered a strange indication of the decision of its publisher, Konami, not to include the name of Hideo Kojima in the official Metal Gear Solid 5 box art. It is an act which prompted an Australian store to take the necessary steps for rectification.

Hideo Kojima and Konami Productions have been in a heated, public feud since the early part of this year. It has been a turbulent year as well for Hideo Kojima after he made it clear that he would be leaving Konami. This was followed by the cancelation of Silent Hills and a declaration of a "mobile first" future.
