"Fifty Shades Darker" could have a similar plot with "The Hobbit." According to IGN, "Fifty Shades Darker" will find inspiration from Peter Jackson's playbook.
The publication also revealed that the filming for "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed" will be done simultaneously. The same holds true for the productions of "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings."
Just recently, news broke that "House of Cards" director James Foley will be in charge of helming the sequel to "Fifty Shades of Grey." There were also speculations that he will be in charge of directing "Fifty Shades Freed." This report heightened the speculation of fans that the production for both films would be done side by side.
However, as of late, it is still unclear whether or not Foley will really be directing "Fifty Shades Darker." Movie Pilot recently claimed that he's the frontrunner for the position because he's the new favorite of Universal Pictures and E.L. James.
Meanwhile, there were rumors that Dakota Johnson and Matthew Hitt are back together after splitting during the time of "Fifty Shades of Grey."
According to multiple sources, the lovebirds are trying to downplay their relationship for fear that fans will no longer support the onscreen partnership of Johnson and Jamie Dornan. However, Dornan previously stressed that his relationship with Johnson is nothing more than platonic because the British actor is still madly in love with his wife Amelia Warner.
During a previous interview, Dornan said that he's still smitten with his wife and is also more in love with him now than the first time they met each other.
This does not mean though that Dornan and Johnson will lose their chemistry on "Fifty Shades Darker." There are speculations that the film will feature more intimate scenes between the two to ensure that fans will watch the movie.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is slated to hit theaters in the United States on Feb. 10, 2017.
