Buyer's Market Makes Offers more Creative

The irony now is, with the stock market reeling, the housing market is soaring.

In a recent report from cbsnews.com, the Commerce Department had reported that for the month of July, the sales of new homes for 2015 were 25 percent higher than that of July 2014. This means that the housing market is in full swing, making it a seller's market and making purchasing a home much more expensive nowadays.

The hottest market in the country is Denver, with a 10.2 percent year over year price increase. San Francisco has its increase at 9.5 percent and third highest is Dallas at 8.2 percent.

With the stiff competition, there is more on the bargaining table being offered. According to Colorado Association of Realtors' spokesperson Kelly Moye, "They'll do anything, offer mountain bikes to the sellers, or maybe a trip for two... anywhere - to Cancun, Mexico, the mountains. Maybe they own a timeshare and they'll give them two weeks there."

In other areas, buyers have become more creative. In Madison, Wis, according to a report from channel3000.com, a couple has sent out letters to help them find a home. Betsy and Brian Hood have sent the letters to homeowners, pleading that a home is needed for their 11 month old baby daughter Britton.

The letter reads, "This could be the place she takes her first steps, say her first words. It might even be the place she's picked up for her first date. This home is where Britton and her mommy could create lifetime of memories."

This, according to the Hoods, personalizes their home-buying experience. According to Betsy Hood, "We don't want to just be pushed aside with different offers. We want them to know who we are and why we really like this house."

Just some of the few ways to get ahead in the buying game in this current market.
