Microsoft Surface Tablet Release Date to Compete with Apple iPad Mini? (WATCH VIDEO AND SEE PICTURES)

Microsoft revealed the features of its Surface Tablet on Tuesday, making available it's pricing, availability and specs.

Consumers can now preorder the 10.6-inch tablet at Surface.com. Prices range from $499 for the 32GB model and $699 for the 64GB model. Both tablets run on Wi-Fi only.

The new windows tablet by Microsoft is expected to ship out on Oct. 26 and offers a built-in kickstand but does not ship with the 3mm thin Touch Cover keypad, according to CNN.

That runs on its own price for $119 but if you want it with real keys it will cost you a sharp $129.

There is a lot more to the Surface Tablet that it meets the eye. There is an Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU (which might run at 1.5 GHz). Microsoft has also built an impressive 2 GB of RAM inside the tablet, CNN reported.

Other features include an 802.11N Mimo Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth 4.0, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, compass, dual microphones, an HD-out port, stereo speakers, a full sized USB 2.0 port and a micro SD-slot. There are also two 720p cameras; one in front of the Surface and the other in the back.

There are more features that come along with the Surface, which is expected to compete with Apple's iPad mini.

Apple is expected to unveil this smaller and cheaper version to its iPad, the 'iPad Mini' on October 23. According to CNN, Apple sent an email Tuesday that read, "We've got a little more to show you. Please join us for an invitation only event at California Theatre in San Jose on October 23 at 10:00 a.m."

Although these reports are not confirmed by Apple, many news reports claim the company will introduce a 7- or 8-inch version of the iPad. Other details include the tablet not having the high-definition "retina display" that's on the current 10-inch iPad and will be priced under $300.

This mini iPad puts Apple in competition with other rival small tables, such as Microsoft's Surface, Amazon's Kindle Fire and Google's Nexus 7, that have weakened Apple's domination of the tablet market.

The Surface is scheduled to ship out on Oct. 26 and will be available in about 65 Microsoft stores. It will also go on sale in eight international locations, including China, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Australia.
