Director James Gunn confirmed on his Facebook page that "Fast & Furious" star Vin Diesel will be back for the sequel of "Guardians of the Galaxy." According to Comic Book, the action star will still be returning for the sequel despite only supplying enough Groot dialogue in the first film.
According to Slash Film, although the director has confirmed the return of most of the cast members, he did not reveal much about the plot of the movie. However, he offered some general hints as to what fans can expect from "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
He said that the sequel will be a story about fathers, and fans will be learning more about Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) paternity. He also revealed that Yondu (Michael Rooker), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are going to play bigger roles in the sequel.
The site also reported that that the script will be revolving around a "risky" storyline which reportedly made Pratt cry upon reading. The movie is also expected to be a whole lot funnier than the original.
It was also reported that there is a possibility that one of Gunn's favorite Marvel characters will be making an appearance in the movie. Marvel fans are reportedly excited and rumors of a possible "Avengers" crossover surfaced.
According to Jobs & Hire, Jeremy Renner, who plays Avenger's Hawkeye, revealed in an interview that it will be happening in the future. However, in his interview with Wizard World Chicago panel, he clarified that it might not happen right away since "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" and "Captain America: Civil War" already have their respective release dates.
A lot of sites also believe that a possible crossover may not happen in the future. Marvel President Kevin Feige hasn't made a statement about it yet.
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is scheduled for release in theaters on May 5, 2017.
