Amazon Underground: $10,000 worth of Apps and Games Free

According to LifeHacker.com Amazon is getting rid of the "free app of the day" feature of its Amazon Appstore. It may be gone for good but it looks like it is going to be replaced by a nicer feature. The source said that it will be replaced with Amazon Underground that gives users a lot of paid apps and games for free. You won't be able to get Amazon Underground from the Play Store like most of Amazon's Android offerings. To download Amazon Underground to your device, you'll need to go to amazon.com/underground using your phone, then you will need to enter and email address to receive a link to download. It was also mentioned that in the app you will be able to browse apps that would normally be paid. In addition, Underground even offers a lot of in-app purchases that apps offer for free, which means the deals go beyond just the "sticker price"

In another source, is was said that this is Amazon's new approach to free software. As said on the page where you can get Underground, the online retailer is offering over $10,000 in apps, games and even those in-app add-ons at no cost. It definitely sounds too good to be true but the company is willing to pay developers based on the length of time you use their apps. In other words, Amazon is giving out per-minute payments in exchange for developers ditching any fees.

Lastly, as written in amazon's page, it was announced, "The Amazon Underground App is a long-term program rather than a one-off promotion. Over time, we'll continue to invent and add more benefits to Underground. For now enjoy so actually free apps and games."

It was noted as well that Underground apps and games are automatically available on Fire HD and Fire HDX tablets.
