"Devious Maids" showrunner Brian Tanen recently opened up about the shocking Sebastian (Gilles Marini) in Season 3 finale episode.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tanen said that they have always known that Sebastian is Louie and Blanca's murderer. However, they decided to keep it under wraps.
During the finale episode "Go Big or Go Home," fans of "Devious Maids" weren't really shocked to know that Sebastian had an affair with Taylor Stappord because he is known for his infidelity.
However, fans didn't expect that he was the one responsible for Louie and Blanca's death because throughout the entire season, he seemed like a nice guy, who simply loved women, according to TV Line.
Meanwhile, Tanen revealed that Marini was informed that his character was the killer before anyone else from the cast knew it was him.
"Gilles knew a little bit before everyone else, but it was right around the time that the final script was circulating. So we did a good job of keeping the secret. We wanted to reserve that right to change the story as we went, but we really did have a pretty clear idea of where we were going and we did lay in some clues that he was the killer. I do believe that most people will not have seen that coming," he said.
In other news, fans were also shocked to see Michael Stappord shot because this means that he will no longer be part of the series if it will be renewed for another season.
Tanen said that they didn't always plan on killing Michael, but they felt that there was a need for another big twist in the finale and Michael had to be the one to go.
"Somebody probably had to die and it would be a really big and shocking moment, the kind of moment that would let the audience know this was a seriously dangerously situation," he said.
"Devious Maids" airs Mondays on Lifetime.
