The Central Park apartment that once belonged to designer Calvin Klein is on the market, for $35 million.
The condo is a 12-room unit in the Art Deco 55 Central Park West building. Its current owner, Steve Gottlieb, bought the apartment from the fashion mogul and made use of it for nearly 12 years, until recently, when he gave up on renovating the place and listed it.
According to the New York Times, Gottlieb used the 5,000 square feet of interior space and 2,000 square feet of terraces in the apartment for occasional party space.
Gottlieb is the owner of Shindig, a video chatting platform. He bought the unit from Klein in the early 1990's for $8.6 million.
The No. 19-20 penthouse has three bedrooms, with large entertainment space, large corner terrace and a conservatory.
Real estate agents John Burger of Brown Harris Stevens and Raphael De Niro and Howard Margolis of Prudential Douglas Elliman hold the listing to the home.
"It is exceptional to find picture windows of this size in a prewar building and at this price point, there are buyers who want to do their own renovations and are looking for a unique clean white slate that this penthouse presents," Burger told the Times.
