‘Castlevania’ Spoiler Update: Producer Adi Shankar Come up with a Super Violent Animated Series

When producer Adi Shankar made mention of a 'Castlevania' Animated Series project over social media, Steve Weintraub reached out to him to see just what was up with him. Shankar himself seems to be bringing back the Belmont family to life as a "hard-hitting anime'' style animated series. Shankar is the man behind such works as Dredd; The Punisher: Dirty Laundry; Venom: Truth in Journalism; Judge Dredd: Superfriend; and a brutally reimagined Power Rangers.

Here's what Adi Shankar said about Castlevania over social media regarding having a meeting with Kevin Kolde, "...he's really [an] awesome dude." Frederator and Kevin acquired the rights a few years ago. Firstly, the fact that independent animation studio Frederator is involved with the production, gives such a huge amount of credibility for the project.

Collider reported that this is the same team that's behind smash hits such as The Fairly Odd Parents and Adventure Time. Secondly, it's great to know that they've acquired the adaptation rights to the Konami game since it will allow them to put their own spin on the series without too much interference from outside.

The iconic video game series Castlevania is finally getting a nod from Dredd executive producer Adi Shankar. There have been rumors about this animated Castlevania series for a while--and now it is confirmed, producer Adi Shankar will helm the project.

According to the report of Den of Geek, Shankar was acclaimed for his high profile fan films such as Power Rangers, The Punisher: Dirty Laundry, and Venom: The Truth in Journalism. He promised that his Castlevania project will be typically 'ultraviolent.'

Shankar told Collider, "There will be a lot [of gore] ... The goal is to bring hard hitting anime to America and be America's first animated series for adults,'' he added, before listing Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, and Young Justice as inspirations. "It's going to be dark, satirical, and after a decade of propaganda, it will flip the vampire sub-genre on its head,'' promised Shankar on Facebook.
