One Direction Split: Manager Simon Cowell Unsure About the Band's Fate

British boyband One Direction recently announced that they're going on a year-long hiatus next year that has left their legion of fans worried. Even their manager Simon Cowell is quite uncertain about the boys' fate after this.

The Daily Mirror reports that the band's decision to go on a hiatus would definitely not be received warmly by the public, but it was a decision made by the boys and not by "The X-Factor" judge. Cowell said in interview with Rylan Clark, "They are grown-ups, they are talented and they will do what they want. Who knows what is going to happen? I have no idea."

After working for five years non-stop, it is understandable for the boys to want a long break. Cowell also mentioned that the hiatus doesn't guarantee an eventual split since the members are also unsure on what to do on the amount of time that is suddenly on their hands again.

The decision was also reportedly thought out. OK! Magazine reports that the boys have expressed their desire to go on a break in 2016 for "quite a long time now," and Cowell reportedly is in no place to decline such request. He revealed that he's "amazed" that they've lasted this long without a decent break.

One Direction will go on a hiatus after they release their fifth studio album. Writer for the band Julian Brunetta revealed to Billboard that there will be songs that are "more sexually charged" and with a 1960s pop feel. He also shared that the fifth album will be memorable and their best one so far since it's going to last longer than the rest. Malik is rumored to not be included in any of the credits on the album even if he was still with One Direction during the early stages of the album.
