Apple Finally Unveils iPad Mini, New iMac, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini

Apple introduced the smaller version of its popular tablet, the iPad Mini, in San Jose, California, Tuesday.

The highly anticipated device is 7.2mm thick, similar to the thickness of a pencil. All applications are expected to work the same as they do on the previous larger iPad as the screen dimensions of this new but smaller tablet are the same.

"It's not just a shrunken-down iPad," Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing told the audience at the media event.

"You knew there would be something called 'mini' in this presentation, didn't you?"

The prices for Apple's new mini device range from $329 to $659, depending on the storage capacity the customer prefers. Pre-orders will be made available on Friday.

During the presentation, an update of the company's smallest MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini were also revealed.

The new version of Apple's top-selling MacBook, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, has a high definition "retina display" screen for the first time and is 3/4 inches thick. That is 20 percent thinner than the current device. It weighs 3.5 pounds and its price starts at $1,699.

The Mac Mini will start at $599 for 4 GB of RAM. Both of these devices will begin shipping Tuesday.

Also announced at the event was a sleeker, more powerful and enhanced version of Apple's iconic desktop, iMac, which will start at $1,299 and will start shipping in November.
