"Castle" Season 8 co-showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter recently confirmed that there will be a new bundle of joy in the upcoming installment. However, fans should know that the baby wouldn't belong to Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic).
In an interview with TV Guide, the co-showrunners said that the Ryan family will be expecting another kid.
"Ultimately, that's going to make Ryan even more paranoid and more excited about trying to make more money. When he sees Beckett rising up in the ranks, the boys realize it's time for them to start looking at their futures, which is going to create some tension and conflict between them," they said.
Meanwhile, Hawley and Winter hinted on the possibility for Rick and Kate to eventually become parents to their own child. They also reiterated that newcomer Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye) will not pose any threat to the couple's relationship because she wouldn't be Rick's "other woman."
"That was never our intention. It's not going to happen," they said.
In other news, "Castle" Season 8 will continue to focus on the lead character Rick and his relationship with Kate.
"It's always been about the Castle-Beckett love story. That's steeped in the DNA of the show, and that's what it will always be. Now, it's about exploring the evolution of it. How do we deepen that love story? What challenges can we put their way that can put their romance at a much higher, different place?" they said.
In other news, Molly Quinn's character Alexis will become a grown-up in the upcoming season of "Castle."
According to Design & Trend, Alexis will find inspiration from Hayley and the two will become like sisters. The latter will also mentor the former in Season 8.
"Castle" Season 8 will premiere on ABC on Sept 21 at 10 p.m. ET.
