The most loved nerds will be back as "The Big Bang Theory" return for Season 9 next month. It was reported that fans are still waiting for updates as to what will happen to the show's couples.
For starters, it seems like Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy's (Mayim Bialik) parents will be coming to town after their break-up. According to Gospel Herald, the show's executive producers confirmed in an interview that Laurie Metcalf will be returning to the show and will reprise her role as Sheldon's mom, Mary. It was reported that she will visit Sheldon after Amy broke up with him. According to the report, Mary will try to comfort her son.
It seems like Sheldon won't be the only one needing a parent to confide to in the upcoming season as it was reported that Penny's (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) dad played by Keith Carradine will be returning in Season 9 after Penny and Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) big fight.
Despite their crisis, Cuoco-Sweeting hinted that Penny and Leonard's relationship will still continue in Season 9, and she even said in an interview with ET Online that "Between Leonard and Penny... All the dreams came true for me."
In an interview, showrunner Steve Molaro also confirmed that Penny and Leonard's wedding will be pushed through in the start of the season. However, he added that their marriage will be just the beginning of the couple's story. He also revealed that fans will learn the story behind Sheldon's alleged engagement ring for Amy.
Mayim Bialik also revealed in an interview that Season 9 will pick up where Season 8 ended and that there will be no time jumps.
"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 episode 1 is titled "Matrimony Momentum" and is scheduled to air on September 21 on CBS.
