‘The 100′ Season 3 Cast, News: 'Desperate Housewives' Star To Play Queen Nia of Ice Nation

"The 100" teens don't really need adults to survive - they have proven they can endure the war just fine on their own - but for season 3, they are adding yet another adult after getting Michael Beach to cast as an Arker; this time, the CW drama is bringing in a former Desperate Housewife - Brenda Strong - also known for her role in the revived "Dallas" - and she will be playing Queen Nia of the Ice Nation, Entertainment Weekly has the report.

"The 100" Season 2 have made numerous mentions of the Ice Nation - two members came to Tondc for the Grounder clan gathering - and it seems that the 3rd season is going to give the elusive tribe a bigger treatment. According to Queen Nia's character description, she has ruled her people for many years while "holding onto power through ruthlessness and savvy". "She does what she must to maintain her power, even when it puts her at odds with those closest to her," the character details explain further.

Just based on the descriptions, it seems that there is another ruthless Grounder on her way. Should fans expect a Lexa / Queen Nia face-off this coming new season? And a more important question: Will Strong narrate it?

Brenda's character is expected to have a tremendous impact on "The 100" story moving forward according to cartermatt.com. Queen Nia is a character built to be commanding, and someone who really does not hold anything back. It is actually a pretty good role, and the network has done a great job at finding an extremely commanding performer to take on the part.

In the coming months ahead, "The 100" will be filming for their much anticipated third season that is believed to premiere either in January or March or depending on how the network's other shows fare in the early part of their fall season. Two of the question marks are new shows "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and also "Reign".
