Robert Pattinson will take another lead role and will play as an extraterrestrial astronaut. Screen Daily reports that the "Twilight star" will be starring in Claire Denis' upcoming sci-fi movie. The said movie is still yet to be given a title, but it is said to be a Denis' creation set in outer space. Along with Denis, Jean-Pol Fargeau, novelist Zadie Smith, and Nick Laird will also be taking part in creating the movie. The whole film is still under wraps, what's only certain at this time is that the movie will 'take place beyond the solar system' and it will be in a 'future that seems like the present'.
This shall be the latest movie where Rob will play a role that some may consider idiosyncratic. He is also the star of Harmony Korine's revenge thriller, "The Trap" and Anton Corbijn's 50's Americana ode "Life". After "Twilight," Rob has been taking films that are non mainstream. He has not been a part of a movie as big as the "Twilight" saga. As what "Twilight" producer Wyck Godfrey has said, "They've each been really smart about the way they've followed up their 'Twilight' careers in that they've not jumped into big studio fare in general. They've chosen directors and movies based on the movie, not the size of the movie," referring to the post-Twilight career of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.
Alcatraz Film producers gave a comment about Rob, saying, "We are very proud and very happy, as is Claire, about what will be a great collaboration. Robert is committed to the project and we are committed to him."
This latest project will also be the screenwriting debut of Smith, although her first novel "White Teeth'" was made a British miniseries 13 years ago. Other members of Denis' unusual set of collaborators on this movie will include Olafu Eliasson, a Danish Icelandic installation artist. Eliassion was also with Denis when he made a short film to come with the Fondation Louis Vuitton exhibit just last year. And along with Eliasson, Stuart Staples will also be working on the movie. Staples is a member of the indie band Tindersticks, which took part in the making of the soundtracks for "The Intruder", "White Material", and "Bastards".
