New From LG: LG Rolly Keyboard That Folds Into a Stick

LG has just announced a new product, the "Rolly Keyboard." Basically, it is a Bluetooth keyboard that folds up along the four rows of keys to create a wand-like device that can be stashed into your pocket or your bag. According to a report in NBC News, LG is by a whisker the first electronics company to introduce a foldable, ultra-portable wireless keyboard as other brands such as Logitech, Samsung, and Apple among others have their own version of portable wireless Bluetooth keyboards. LG may not also be the first to introduce a gadget called the "Rolly", because Sony has a portable speaker that goes by that name. However, LG might be the first to market a "stick for your pocket" that turns into a keyboard and can work with any smartphone or tablet.

According to the same source, unlike ultra-flexible foldable keyboards, the "LG Rolly Keyboard" is made of solid plastic, which gives it a more tactile feel. Furthermore LG claims that it is also supposedly more comfortable because it's just shy of the 18mm key pitch found on most desktop keyboards. Two tiny plastic arms fold out from the end of the keyboard and can support a tablet or smartphone. Furthermore, it can toggle between two different Bluetooth-connected devices at a time. Battery life is expected to extend to three months on a single AAA battery.

So far, LG hasn't disclosed how much the Rolly will cost or the date it will be released yet; however, more information is expected at IFA in Berlin next week, where spectators can get a demonstration on how to use it in person.

IFA is the world's leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances. It takes place from September 4 to 9, 2015 in Berlin, Germany.
