Earlier this week, new leaked photos of Sony Xperia Z5 revealed that the soon-to-be-unveiled smartphone will likely feature a 23-megapixel rear camera. The new rumor comes days ahead of Sony's IFA 2015 event on September 2.
If such rumor is true, then the company's upcoming flagship smartphone will be one of the devices with the highest megapixel counts available in the market today. After all, Sony has poised itself as the industry's best camera lens provider, a report from iDigitalTimes said.
According to the report, the new press renders show that Sony's upcoming smartphone features the company's 1/2.3-inch 23 MP Exmor RS camera sensor with a six-lens system. It was said that aside from the previously leaked features, the recently leaked photos of the handset show a multi-lens system. The leaked photos also show a slightly rounded frame with an embossed Xperia branding in three different colors: gold, white and dark turquoise. Sony's smartphone is expected to be water-resistant, which is a common feature among Sony devices.
IDigitalTimes further reports that rumored specifications of Xperia Z5 include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, but it is not yet clear whether it will have a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels or 1440 x 2560 pixels. Inside the handset is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage capacity.
Previous reports have indicated that it will be equipped with a 4 GB of RAM, a 4,500mAh battery, a 21-megapixel rear lens and an 8-megapixel front camera. It was also rumored that it will likely feature Sony's latest fingerprint scanner technology.
The press renders leaked by Xperia Blog have only reiterated the previously rumored specifications of the Sony Xperia Z5, except the colors, the Xperia logo, and the 23-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone's size remains to be unknown; however, the report mentioned that it will be similar to the size of Sony Xperia Z5+.
"One of the Z5 press images shows that the new Xperia has a 23 MP rear camera. Most likely, this will use the same fast hybrid auto focus system that debuted on the Xperia M5. Only the rear and sides of the Z5 can be clearly seen in these new images, but we assume that the handset's front isn't too different from that of the Xperia Z3+," Phone Arena noted.
