Your dream of having a phone that melds BlackBerry's hardware and services combined with Android's customization and wider app selection may soon become a reality.
Since the dawn of smartphones having Android as its operating system, many mobile phone aficionados had waited so long for Blackberry to adapt such kind of system. However, years have passed and such dream never flourished into reality and most Blackberry users opted to change handset in order to experience a more flexible and fun to use smartphone.
But such ever sought fantasy of most Blackberry fans may soon turn into a reality, as many leaked photos suggest that the Canadian mobile company is integrating Android as part of their mobile phone's operating system. The idea of having a Blackberry phone such as the rumored Passport 2 running on an Android platform would be very exciting. As to the idea pointed out by geeksays, it suggested that aside from an OS update, it also speculated that the new Blackberry phone running with Android OS would have;
"...a Snapdragon 801 chipset, with four Krait 400 cores, running at 2.26 GHz, alongside 3GB of RAM, Adreno 330 GPU and 32GB of expandable storage. The rear camera will use a 13 MP sensor, while the front-facing one will rely on a 2 MP snapper. Finally, the battery could sport the same capacity of 3450 mAh."
An unnamed source according to the report of Reuters shared that such change of OS is part of Blackberry's marketing strategy. The said anonymous tipster commented that;
"The move to use Android is part of BlackBerry's strategy to pivot to focus on software and device management. BlackBerry, which once dominated smartphone sales, now has a market share of less than 1 percent."
However, Blackberry's response to such rumors is not that explicit but it somehow hides some strong possibilities underneath. For in an interview, BlackBerry CEO John Chen, when asked about Android OS, said on reply that;
"We only build secure phones, and BlackBerry is the most secure phone. So, if I can find a way to ecure the Android phone, I will also build that."
