Actress and singer Emmy Rossum is now engaged to his writer and director boyfriend Sam Esmail, E! News has confirmed. The couple dated for two years before the "Mr. Robot" creator finally popped the big question to the "Shameless" actress.
According to People, the couple got engaged over the weekend in Los Angeles.
Emmy, 28, and Sam, 37, first met in 2014 while he was directing the romantic comedy "Comet" starring his bride-to-be alongside Justin Long. They made their official debut as a couple during the film's premiere in June 2014. Since then they began dating and seems to be inseparable. Both of them are out and open in expressing their love and affection in their Instagram posts.
It has been a great year for both professional statuses of the couple. Rossum's role as Fiona in "Shameless" seems to garner a lot of appreciation, while Esmail's work as the creator of "Mr. Robot" earned him a lot.
During her interview with "Live! With Kelly & Michael" in October last year, Emmy happily talked about Sam and mentioned that "He's a bit of a nerd," which she later revealed is the kind she's attracted to. She said, "He doesn't know chivalry too well, so we have to bust his chops a little bit and tell him every time a woman stood up and went to the restroom, he had to stand up."
The "Slow Me Down" singer confessed in her interview with Cosmopolitan in September 2014 issue, "I don't gravitate to the jock; it's the nerdy guy in the corner. Writers are sexy."
It was also last year when "The Phantom of the Opera" star gushed about his boyfriend Esmail telling People that he allowed her to have a female-centered 28th birthday celebration.
Rossum was previously married to music executive Justin Siegel 2008. They were officially divorced come December 2010.
