In her Twitter account, Hayley Atwell revealed that "Agent Carter" has begun its production for Season 2. According to Comic Book Movie, for quite some time now, Marvel has been working on their different television series which includes "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Daredevil." There are also reports circulating that Marvel is planning to release an upcoming original series on Netflix.
"Agent Carter" is based on Peggy Carter who is being portrayed by Hayley Atwell. Peggy is Steve Rogers' (a.k.a. Captain America) love interest in story "Captain Amercia: The First Avenger." The events in the show follows Peggy's life after Rogers' death as she finds herself balancing her work for the Scientific Strategic Reserve (SSR) and also helping Howard Stark clear his name from the charges he was framed for.
Christian Post reported that in Season 2, Peggy will be against some of the formidable villains like Madame Masque and Dr. Zola, the HYDRA scientist. Executive Producer Tara Butters revealed that Madame Masque is the top antagonist of the show, and with that, they had to do a little tweaking of the timelines.
It was reported that the original character was introduced in 1968 and she was the daughter of an infamous crime lord. She was described as a character that also has a good side and sometimes leaves her evil bosses to save the world.
Meanwhile, in Season 1 Peggy was able to say goodbye to Steve Rogers. Does this mean that she will also have a new love life? Showrunner Michele Fazekas revealed that in order for Peggy to move on with her life, she had to let Captain America go.
"Agent Carter" Season 2 is scheduled to be released in 2016. The upcoming season will feature 10 episodes.
