'Outlander' Season 2 Premiere Date & Spoilers: Ricky Gervais to Join Cast? Show Creator Reveals How the Series Will Be Different from the Book

It seems like Sam Heughan has been asking Ricky Gervais through his Twitter account to appear in "Outlander" season 2.

According to Latin Post, the 35-year-old actor who plays Jamie in the show has been asking Gervais to join the cast in the upcoming season. In their Twitter conversation, Gervais asks, "What are the hours?" and "Will you make me wear a tartan skirt?" As of writing, Gervais has not confirmed if he will indeed appear in the show.

Meanwhile, Diana Gabaldon, the author of the novels on which the TV show "Outlander" is based, posted information on Facebook regarding the Season 2 script. She warned the fans that Season 2 will be different compared to the story of the book.

Acording to Cinemablend, show creator Ronald D. Moore further explained in a separate interview that despite the big difference, Season 2 will still be exciting and that the changes have been approved by the author.

Gabaldon revealed that she feels really good about the script and that she was satisfied as to how the writers did the changes. She added that although it may not be a literal adaptation of her book, it is still very much the same story. Gabaldon said that in Season 2, the major characters and scenes are still well-presented.

It was earlier reported that Season 2 will pick up from where it left off in Season 1. Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) will reportedly move to Paris in the hopes of improving their lives.

In Season 2, the couple will reportedly be attempting to stop the Jacobite rebellion to prevent the slaughter on Culloden Moor and the destruction of the Highland culture after it.

As of writing, there is still no official premiere date for the first episode of Season 2 but speculations suggest that it could be coming in the fall.
