Most of the "NCIS: Los Angeles" fans can still recall the dramatic Season 6 finale where Hetty lied to Callen about his father's death. In the upcoming season of the TV series, the truth about this will be uncovered, according to Design&Trend. With the turn of events in the new NCIS episodes, the team will be put to the test, especially Callen who is said to go rogue, leaving fans questioning if he is a double agent or a loyal partner.
The executive producer Shane Brennan has revealed to TV Guide that "The very heart of what this show is Callen's search for his family." He added, "We are stepping closer and closer to finally giving Callen closure."
The next season will kick off three months after the end of Season 6, the time when the audience learned that Callen's presumed-dead father is not dead.
A CBS report said at the start of the new season, the once-trusted agent will embark on a secret and personal mission given what he has learned about his father from the previous season. Eager to meet his father, Callen is determined to further probe into the mystery with the piece of information that was provided by someone from his past. His efforts will then put him at odds with his teammates. Furthermore, CBS has shared that Hetty will demand to have Callen's operation shut down, urging the team to locate Callen and putting a stop to his investigation.
"Callen goes a little rogue," Brennan said. "It puts him in a fairly difficult position with Hetty. It puts him in a very, very difficult position with Sam - and as a result, puts him in a difficult position with the rest of the team. We've never seen Sam or Hetty in this position with Callen before. We've had situations where he's gone off the grid, but there's some pretty interesting conversations between Callen and Hetty and Callen and Sam about loyalty and being informed about what's happening."
