"Orange is the New Black" star Laura Prepon is rumored to be leaving the series after Season 4 due to Scientology.
According to Star Magazine, Prepon's role as a lesbian character on "Orange is the New Black" has conflicts with her beliefs.
"Scientologists aren't fond of the gay lifestyle. Laura has nothing against gay people personally, but she takes her religion seriously and being a gay icon isn't something she wants for her career. She's asked for so much money, it's obvious she wants to shop herself out of the shop," a source told the publication.
Meanwhile, Gossip Cop debunked the claims of the publication and said that Prepon will not be axed from "Orange is the New Black" Season 4 nor will she leave the Netflix series because of her Scientology beliefs.
"Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to Prepon, who assures us that there's no truth to the allegations that her religious beliefs are in any way affecting her career decisions. In fact, Prepon revealed in a recent interview that Scientology has actually improved her acting skills, specifically in regards to her role on 'Orange Is The New Black,'" the report stated.
In other news, Prepon's Alex will remain connected to Taylor Schilling's character Piper.
During a previous interview, Prepon said that Alex and Piper will always have a special place in each other's hearts. The actress added that Alex and Piper's connection is very rare, whether or not they choose to be romantically together.
In Season 3, Alex was attacked by a group of people who wanted to get rid of her. At that time, fans thought that Alex has died and that Prepon will no longer be part of the series. Luckily, Alex survived the attack and in Season 4, she will not be timid.
"Orange is the New Black" Season 4 will be released by Netflix in June 2016.
