Ashley Madison Leak: British Intelligences Trawl on Useful Data, to Check if Own Staff are Members of the Dating Site!

Data is vulnerable these days and recently protecting data has been the major drive of any nation. According to a previous post by Ibtimes, " Data from the Ashley Madison hack is being trawled through by British spies and intelligence agencies from around the world in the hope of extracting useful information, it has been claimed." The relevant information such as usernames, addresses, phone numbers, passwords, and even the email addresses of more than 32 million users were discarded in web earlier this month by a certain hacking team. The hack squad released 10 gigabytes of data, which included the details of more than 2,000 British public sector workers and approximately 10,000 email addresses belonging to US government workers as further conveyed by Ibtimes.

Intelligence agencies all across the globe are also looking at the leaked data from the Ashley Madison adultery website hack to gather personal information as well. According to a recent post by the Telegraph, " British spy agencies have already checked the leaked records to see if their own staff could be vulnerable, but are also checking the data for details on potential intelligence targets." The accounts that totaled to millions whose information have been stolen and disclosed to the public seems to have members who have jobs and roles pertaining to the government and industry. What is even more fascinating to note is the type of information being released.

The leaked membership details of the site used by people to set up extramarital affairs could also now be checked when vetting those who need security clearance for sensitive posts as further stated in a report by the Telegraph. However, it is important to clarify that it does not necessarily mean that those involved signed up to the site. Email addresses linked to an account do not mean the owner has used the dating site, meaning anyone's email address could have been used to create an account as detailed by Ibtimes.
