Samsung has released more details about its coming Gear S2 smartwatch. But the crucial information like pricing and release date are still on hold - but those aren't too far off. In today's press release, it is revealed that its Tizen-powered watch will come in two models: the regular Gear S2 and a Gear S2 classic.
As reported by The Verge news, featuring a black finish with a matching leather band, the Gear S2 Classic is being positioned to take on high-end Android Wear options like the LG Watch Urbane and of course the Apple Watch. The regular model features a dark gray case with gray band or in silver with a white band. The Gear S2's 1.2-inch circular display has a resolution of 360 x 360 and is surrounded by a rotating bezel.
The Gear S2 has big downside that won't have access to Android Wear's growing collection of third-party apps. Samsung says it'll keep you in tune with all of your texts, emails, calendars, breaking news, and fitness goals. Samsung will still need to reserve more thorough judgement until they've used the Gear S2 firsthand (and know how much Samsung plans to charge for the thing). Several major carriers including Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile US have already announced plans to sell the Gear S2.
GSM Arena reported that Samsung has finally revealed the details of the Gear S2 smartwatch. The high-end Tizen smartwatch with rotating bezel and IP68 rating will be on display during IFA in Berlin in two different models - Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic. Gear S2 features 1GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of internal memory.
Samsung Gear S2 has a measure of 42.3 × 49.8 × 11.4mm, while its weight tips the scale at 47 grams. The classic model is more elegant with a measure of 39.9 × 43.6 × 11.4mm and a weight of 42 grams. A 250mAh battery will power both devices - and rated to last for 2-3 days of regular usage.
