NBA player Kobe Bryant has been trying to sell his home for more than two years now, even dropping the price by $1.5 million in the hope of finally selling the house. His Newport Coast home is now on sale for $6.995 million. The price is $1.564 million less than the original asking price of $8.5 million from August 2013.
Located in a gated and guarded community, the Mediterranean-style home has an area of 8,471 square feet. It boasts of four bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as an 850-square-foot gym, a hair salon, and a large home theater with its own lobby and wet bar.
Outside the house, there's a full outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, and a pool and spa with ocean and city views. The Lakers shooting guard originally purchased the property for $1.7 million in 1997, and has put in a lot of improvements over the years.
After two years on the market and after four price drops, Kobe Bryant just set a price record with the sale of his California mansion. The Los Angeles Lakers guard sold his mansion for a cool $6.1 million.
AOL said that as you peek inside the house you will see why it's worth this much. This 87-hundred square foot home was initially listed at 8.5 million dollars in 2013, but ended up fetching $6.1 million. It's the most anyone has ever paid for a home in the Newport Coast enclave, as MLS records show.
Yahoo Homes said the sale price of $6,116,500 for the mansion of Kobe Bryant was less than even the most recently discounted ask. Believe it or not, the mansion broke a price record in the Newport Coast neighborhood by a large margin, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The sale of the mansion could help Kobe Bryant set up for his next rumored transition. Bryant himself has indicated that next season will be his last before retirement, according to the L.A. Lakers' general manager.
