'Half-Life 3' Release Date Confirmed for 2015? Alleged Screenshots Leaked

Alleged screenshots related to the "Half-Life 3" video game have been leaked last week, sparking another wave of speculations from both avid fans and players. It was said that an anonymous 4Chan user posted an image that hints details about Valve's upcoming game.

The leaker of the asset claims to be connected to Valve. However, a legitimate source from Valve denied the leaker's claim and branded the screenshot as not "real." The game's developer has been mum on these speculations as official details of the game are limited, a report from Design & Trend said on Tuesday.

"Excitement peaked this Saturday when an anonymous 4Chan poster advertised an image supposedly related to 'Half-Life 3.' The source had separated the asset leak into 2,500 individual images that, when pieced together by the community, would reveal a secret related to the unreleased game. As is to be expected, users took to the task with great enthusiasm," the report said.

Design & Trend further reports that the image, if pieced together, renders a friendly robot named Dog. "When dissecting that older game's files, however, this particular image is not present. A few contributors also noticed that the file's textures are unique to Source Engine 2. This potentially means Valve's latest graphics design suite was used to produce the image," the report said.

The speculation heated up after a person who claimed to be "Counter-Strike" creator Minh "Gooseman" Le said that the leaked asset was actually used by 3A model company in designing "Half-Life" toys as commissioned by Valve. It was stressed that the photo was intended to be used in "Half-Life 3" video game. The photo was believed to have been created in March and April last year.

"Counter-Strike creator and former Valve employee Minh 'Gooseman' Le spilled the beans on some insider Valve information during an interview with GoRgnTV on Twitch. During the chat, Le explained that he doesn't really feel it's a secret that Valve is working on Half-Life 3, so it shouldn't be a big deal for him to admit that he's seen what he claims was likely concept art for the game," Gamerant said.
