Some things are made a lot easier with the help of social media-- even inviting your crush to a ball is a lot easier nowadays. This was indeed true with the attempt made by a US marine when he invited to a Marine Ball the UFC superstar Ronda Rousey.
US Marine Jarrod Haschert asked his ultimate celebrity crush Rousey to the annual Marine Corps Ball at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He had no other weapon aside from a 34sec video, self-confidence coupled with sincerity and a full Marine uniform when he perpetuated perhaps one of the most important missions of his life. On the said video the marine expressed her admiration to the UFC champ as he started saying that;
"I love everything you do, and I think you are a phenomenal person," he then added, "which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball on December 11. ... I hope you take this in consideration because, if you do, you will truly be making my dream come true."
The mission almost failed, for it took some time for some of the netizens and even Ronda to notice the video until some media outlets paved a way. The conflict of schedule likewise posed a threat for the date to be pushed into reality. However, it seems like fate is on the Marine's side, for Ronda's scheduled fight on December was moved till next year.
On an interview by tmz, Ronda confirmed that she will gladly attend the said marine ball but warns Jarrod that she's not a "first date kind of a girl." Now Ronda's problem according to her is that she doesn't "know how to ... hit him up. Do I have to call him or do I set up a time and place like 'Never Been Kissed,' and just show up" she said.
