Minecraft creator Markus Persson took on social meadia to share about his boredom and loneliness being a billionaire.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, Persson let out his thoughts on life as a billionaire and according to Irish Examiner, the 36-year-old Minecraft programmer was having a bad day. He tweeted, "The problem with getting everything is you run out of reasons to keep trying, and human interaction becomes impossible due to imbalance."
The man who made the groundbreaking virtual world builder game hit it big when he sold 71 percent of his studio Mojang to Microsoft in 2014 for $2.5 billion. Apparently, the wealth he amassed in the deal is not enough to make the Swedish computer whiz happy. And that is despite rumors that he spent $180,000 for a night of partying at club in Las Vegas and that he is pals with celebrities like Tony Hawk and Selena Gomez who are regular visitors in his home in Los Angeles.
He also posted a tweet about the status of his love life, "Found a great girl, but she's afraid of me and my life style and went with a normal person instead."
It was also reported that he was not in good terms with his former employees after selling Minecraft to Microsoft. It was revealed that none of the 40 or so people employed by Mojang was a shareholder of the company and that proceeds of the Minecraft sale only went to founders. The game has reached 100 million users as of the latest estimate and there are over 4 billion views in YouTube for Minecraft videos just in May this year.
According to CNBC, press and media pounced on Persson's tweets and began calling the billionaire depressed. He then went on the defense and sent the tweet, "fwiw, while there are articles about my depression because I had a bad day and vented on a trend I saw, I'm sitting here having a nice day."
