Wright Home Designed By Frank Lloyd Sold; Will Be Preserved

The Official Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy Website, SaveWright.org announced that the David and Gladys Wright home was finally sold to an anonymous buyer and the purchaser planned to preserve the building.

The Wright home, located in Phoenix, Arizona, is one of the important buildings of the state. There was an ongoing dispute about its demolition. However, finally Thursday, 20 December, it was announced that the house will stand proud and tall as the anonymous buyer has decided to preserve it, reported CNN iReport.

The home was first sold in June 2009 by Wright heirs for $2.8 million and was resold to a group of developers in June 2012 who intended to demolish the building, reported Zillow.

The house was sold for around $2.5 million and the buyer will be transferring the property to a nonprofit organization to cater to its restoration, operation and maintenance, reported Zillow.

"This purchase is a magnificent and generous action," Larry Woodin, president of SaveWright.org told Zillow.

"It is a gift to the people of Phoenix, a gift to the worldwide architectural community and to everyone that cares about the history of modern architecture. We are enormously grateful to this benefactor for making sure there will be a new chapter in the life of this important and unique Frank Lloyd Wright building," he added

The most beautiful and significant attraction of the property is its spiral staircase. The design was also incorporated in the design of the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1952 for his son David and his wife.
