Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger have announced that they're splitting up after two years of marriage.
Lavigne posted this on her Instagram account about their split:
"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments. We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support."
The two rock stars first crossed paths when Kroeger contributed to Lavigne's album "Here's To Never Growing Up." They dated for a month and got engaged in August 2012. Their Gothic-themed wedding was held on a medieval French Castle last July 1, 2013. That was the second marriage for Lavigne and the first for Kroeger.
The ex-couple both suffered medical concerns this year. Lavigne told the public that she was fighting with Lyme disease last April, while Kroeger had a surgery to remove a cyst on his vocal chords.
According to a source from Eonline, "Avril is still sick, so she's not working much-just here and there," the source added. "It's been a tough year. But these days, she's living in L.A. and has a very close, supportive group of friends. She's focused on her recovery but she knows it's going to take time."
The same source also said that even with them being supportive with each other, "they just didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things" and that "their friends and social circles never really mixed.
It is still unclear if Lavigne and Kroeger will file for divorce. If so, this will be the second divorce for the female rock star. Lavigne first divorce is with the musician Deryck Whibley in October 2009.
