Don't have a doorman in your apartment to accept packages on your behalf while you're at work or away on vacation? Tired of coming home to "missed package" slips stuck to your door?
Well, here's some great news: there are now 5 services popping up in some big cities that let you get home deliveries on your time. Here are 5 ways to get your packages on your own schedule by Apartment Therapy:
Doorman
How it works: With this service, you get to have your personal Doorman shipping address. Doorman will sign for you and they will send you a notification and hold your package for as long as you'd like. Using the Doorman app on your smartphone, schedule a home delivery anytime from from 6pm to 12 modnight, 7 days a week.
Amazon Locker
How it works: Do you order on Amazon and never receive your package on time? You can now have your package shipped to an Amazon locker; it could hold the package for you for three business days until you can pick it up yourself using a unique pick-up code that is sent to your email. Lockers have early morning and late evening hours and some location are open 24/7.
Parcel
How it works: Get your own unique Parcel address and have your packages sent that way. Parcel would then send you a text notification, with four one-hour windows for home delivery that evening. You can have Parcel hold your package for 30 days if you're away or unavailable.
Swapbox
How it works: Have packages shipped to your Swapbox address. When it arrives at a Swapbox location, Swapbox sends you a PIN code to pick up your delivery at their monitored, indoor kiosk.
TaskRabbit
How it works: You can hire out everyday tasks (for more than just packages) with TaskRabbit. You can use the site to describe what you need (i.e. "I need someone to sign for a package," or "I need someone to get a package being held at the UPS store") and choose a Tasker to get it done for you. More than any kind of service, it is more of an arrangement between individuals with the restrictions left between you and your Tasker.
