Tech giant Apple is set to unveil its new Apple TV on September 9 this year. As the launch of the said television draws near, a new report has surfaced this week saying that the Cupertino-based company pushes for a new business venture for Apple TV. It was said that the company is currently negotiating with Hollywood executives to build a plan for its programming platform that will be launched this year, iDigitalTimes said on Wednesday.
"Variety also reports rumors that the platform will be created to compete with Netflix. Corporate headhunters are allegedly looking for the right talent to present to Apple as showrunners for its platform. Apple's goal could be to launch the platform as early as 2016. Sources told Variety that Apple could focus on TV, movies or both on its proposed streaming platform," according to the report.
Design & Trend states that Apple's upcoming TV has an advanced hardware, a new remote control and improved features. However, the price of the new Apple TV will be doubled compared to existing models available in the market. It was also reported that the TV will be optimized for gaming, and gamers will be able to use its Wi-Fi-like remote control that allows them to interact with other users in video games.
Apple's fourth-generation TV, according to 95toMac, will be sold below $200 and will be available in October. 95toMac's sources say that the company's executives are still finalizing the price of the new TV and it was said that the starting price will be either $149 or $199, which is obviously higher than the previous Apple TV.
"As soon as next year, Apple plans to release a cable-replacing streaming TV service that bundles multiple television channels for a price as low as $40 per month, but the new Apple TV will initially still require logins to cable networks to unlock content," the report said.
