"The Danish Girl" Trailer: Lili Elbe's Life As One Of The First To Go Through Gender Confirmation Surgery

It wasn't too long ago when the trailer for Carol was brought to you. It is the story of a taboo love from woman to woman in midcentury Manhattan. And now, another timeless story comes in, "The Danish Girl". It is based on David Ebershoff's book of the same title. "The Danish Girl" is based on the real life of Lili Elbe and although fictionalized, "The Danish Girl" will portray Elbe's life as she becomes one of the first people to go through gender confirmation surgery. The release of "The Danish Girl" has been anticipated by many ever since Eddie Redmayne's photo as Elbe started to go out months ago.

Elbe was born as Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener. Before undergoing transition, Elbe lived well as an artist with an artist wife, Gerda Gottlieb. Gottlieb however, causes her husband to accidentally realize the need for permanent transition as she had her husband pose for a portrait wearing women's clothes. Ever since that moment, their relationship started to face tests that neither of them has ever anticipated.

"The Danish Girl" will undeniably be one of the most heart wrenching movies of the year. The subject matter is not yet overrated, unlike your other typical films about marriage and the actors of the movie are probably the best picks. Redmayne is a Best Actor Oscar holder and Alicia Vikander who will play Gottlieb is not so bad herself, she's part of one of the year's best movies, "Ex Machina" and she also starred in "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." and "Testament Of Youth."

Redmayne looks like he is very much prepared for the challenge of being Elbe. Vikander on the other hand, also looks like she turned her full Academy Award mode on as she gets in character and lets her tears stream through her face like a vulnerable young woman.

Amber Heard will also be in the movie, with a real role, as what Wired.Com calls it. Director Tom Hooper will have full attention to "The Danish Girl", making all of us hopeful that this movie will be as great as "The King's Speech" and "Les Misérables."

For a "The Danish Girl" quote:
"I think Lili's thoughts. I dream her dreams. She was always there."-Lili Elbe
