NBA Star Dwight Howard Won't Face Charges For Gun in Bag at Houston Airport

It's interesting how some stars are being held at the airport, being all equal to regular people.

Sports personality Dwight Howard is the most recent celebrity to be investigated at the airport after he was discovered to have been carrying a handgun inside his carry-on bag. Howard was detained at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport because of this, and according to Kese Smith, Houston Police Department spokesperson, Howard was stopped at 7am at Terminal E when officials found out that there is a pistol lying at the bottom of his bag.

Howard admitted to owning the said gun, and after the detention, law enforcement officers allowed him to surrender the handgun to an official. The Houston District Attorney's office declined to press any charges to the sports star. He was also able to board on a flight later on. According to The Rockets, they are already aware of the said incident at the airport. However, Howard could not be reached for a comment regarding the controversy.

However controversial, this kind of situation isn't unusual. Smith has mentioned that guns are discovered periodically at Houston's main airports. In the past year, 77 were found and few charges and arrests have been made.

In Texas, people can carry a properly licensed concealed handgun with them. A law was also passed that will allow people in Texas with a conceal-carry license to openly carry their handguns beginning 2016.

This airport incident won't stain his records as being one of the most respected stars of NBA. Dwight Howard is currently playing for Houston Rockets as center. The 29 year old NBA star has made a name for himself in the basketball industry. He is an 8 time All Star, 8 time All NBA team selection, 3 time Defensive Player Of The Year, and 5 time All Defensive member. He has been with Houston Rockets since 2013.
