"Street Fighter 5" will have three additional characters. This new development was shared by the game's brand director Matt Dahlgren during the GameStop Expo held in Las Vegas this week. He revealed that three of those yet-to-be announced fighters will be completely new "Street Fighter" playable characters, a report from Gamespot said on Thursday.
"The roster discussion is probably the most intense one internally before the game comes out," he said. Dahlgren further noted that the company has consulted industry experts and conducted a fan poll in order to identify which playable characters fans and players would like to part of the game's roster.
"The end result is really going to be a roster that's unlike 'Street Fighter 4.' It's got its own unique flavor to it. And if your character didn't make it in now, we are going to be revealing post-launch characters," Dahlgren said, as quoted in the report.
Latino Post reports that "Street Fighter 5" will have a total of 16 characters at launch. Expected in the game is the eight classic characters such as Ryu and Chun-Li and four other characters from the previous version of the game including R, Mika and Nash. It was said that the final four are all brand new characters, but a previous report has revealed that the first character is Necalli, who is described as a big-hair and slashing style fighter.
The remaining three playable characters will be announced in the coming months until March 2016, the game's official launch date. Other confirmed characters in the game include Cammy, Charlie, Birdie and Vega. Capcom claims that it is planning to add new characters via DLC.
Meanwhile, screenshots of Cammy's new exclusive costumes have been revealed on Monday. It was said that Cammy's design has changed and looks more appealing to the Japanese fans and players.
Capcom reportedly changed Cammy's design after Japanese fans have complained that the character's design appeals more to Westerners. "The hair and outfit have changed because of the costume, but her face is noticeably different as well. The most distinct change is in her eyes, although all of her features are now softer," VG247 reported.
