The first episode of "Person of Interest" Season 5 aired this week, and actor Michael Emerson teased fans that there are more exciting scenes coming in the current season. Fans were reportedly surprised by the Season 4 finale and Emerson admitted that he was surprised as well.
According to Venture Capital Post, Emerson said in an interview that he did not know what would happen in the Season 4 finale until he read the script. In the finale, the machine was destroyed. Emerson revealed thatSseason 5 will be exploring more about the Season 4 finale events. He hinted that the machine could still be revived in Season 5.
Emerson added that the machine will be having a new set of core principles, and with that, Root (Amy Acker) and his character Mr. Finch will have an argument about it. He also said that his character will be more obsessed with the Samaritan which will make their mission more dangerous compared to when they first started.
Emerson talked more about Season 5 and said that now that the idea of the Samaritan is plausible, they could be up against something which could potentially end humanity. In the Season 4 finale, Sameen Shaw (Sarah Shahi) left the Samaritan agents while Greer (John Nolan) took Control (Camryn Manheim) as their hostage. Some agents also killed Elias (Enrico Colantoni) and Dominic (Winston Duke).
It was earlier reported that Season 5 will be the final season for the show. According to Christian Post, during the San Diego Comic-Con event, producer Jonathan Nolan said that it is hard to predict what will happen to the series and he is not sure if Season 5 will be the show's last. He added that he is very proud of the series and if Season 5 will be the last for the show, he hopes that he can keep the fans happy.
"Person of Interest" Season 5 started airing on September 1.
