Thornton bought the house with ex-wife Angelina Jolie in 2000 for $3.75 million from Guns N Roses lead guitarist, Slash. He continued to live in the house for nine more years after the duo split in 2003. Thornton claimed he blew the marriage because of "insecurity" issues, reports The Denver Post.

He listed the estate for sale in October, 2012

The residence is spread over an expanse of 11,000 square feet and was built in 1969. The place comprises of 9 bedrooms and 10 full bathrooms. The home boasts of a recording studio. A double story living room is one of its attractions. A gym and a cozy library are some of its modern attributes. While the home is a beauty in itself, the residence grounds flaunt fine-looking fountains and a nice pool. The place also has a shaded loggia and a tennis court, reports Zillow.

Thornton has some excellent work under his belt. He won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for his independent film "Sling Blade". He first gained recognition from his stint in CBS serial "Hearts Afire" and later starred in many movies like "Deadly on Ground" and "Tombstone".

For his autobiography, "The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts" Jolie contributed a gracious foreword in praise of Thornton.

Thornton maintains that Jolie and he will always remain friends. Jolie and present beau Brad Pitt have reportedly gotten hitched in a secret wedding ceremony over the holidays, reports The Telegraph.
